Volunteer

Guild Opera Company is currently seeking enthusiastic, hard working volunteers to assist our administrative and production staffs with a variety of projects. Tasks include, but are not limited to, updating our website and social media pages, assisting our marketing and development departments with daily activities, general clerical work such as filing and other administrative tasks, and supporting our education staff and teaching artists. We especially are looking for someone to serve as a program coordinator to help us bring our program to local schools. But you tell us what your passion is and we will assign you to the appropriate department!

Singer Auditions

Guild Opera Company is holding auditions yearly. Please subscribe to our mailing list as well as our social media pages to stay updated and receive notifications about our upcoming auditions.

This year Guild Opera Company is holding auditions Saturday November 16, 2024 from 11 AM to 4 PM. 

 

We are looking for singers for our school programs (educational outreach programs) and opera productions.

Special Requirements: LAUSD requires background checks on cast & stage crew performing at schools.   

Minimum age limit: 18 years old

Casting:

 

  • School Shows (we’re particularly looking for “great character actors with excellent English diction”):

    - Wade in the Water: Harriet Tubman (Soprano) & Baritone - American Spirituals & highlights from Porgy & Bess.

    - Little Red Riding Hood: Little Red (High Soprano), Grandmother (Soprano/Mezzo) & Hunter/Wolf (Baritone)

    - Estrella: Estrella (High Soprano), Mother (Soprano/Mezzo) & Father (Tenor/Baritone) - Bilingual Spanish/English dialogue with classic spanish songs and zarzuela.  

    - Alice in Wonderland - Alice (High Soprano), Cat/Rabbit/Turtle (Soprano/Mezzo/Tenor), Duchess/Grython (Baritone), Queen of Hearts/Cook (Dramatic Soprano) & the King/Table (Spoken dialogue).  

 

  • Secondary roles and chorus for our concert series and upcoming fully staged opera productions: 

    - Carmen by Bizet (Two Performances February 1 & 2, 2025) 

    - Macbeth by Verdi (Two Performances April 11 & 13, 2025)

Audition Pieces:  Two arias - one operatic & one in English (musical theatre is acceptable for English).

​
